Today is World Oral Health Day (WOHD), which is sponsored by the FDI World Dental Federation. This is an international day of observance dedicated to the importance of oral health. We are reminded that our oral health is such an integral part of our overall physical health. The purpose of the day is to help spread awareness about the benefits of a healthy mouth. It is estimated that 90% of all people will have some sort of oral disease sometime in their life. Prevention, detection and quality treatment options are all vital parts of the message being promoted throughout the world today and on March 20th of every year.
As a prosthodontist, I am committed to improving patient outcomes as well as advocating for oral health education and awareness. Lifelong healthy habits, including seeing your dentist regularly are a great foundation to a healthy mouth. There are many benefits, both cosmetic and medical. Our awareness of optimal oral health can help to prevent problematic conditions. Early detection and treatment of an oral health issue often lessens the severity.
At Madison Prosthodontics, we fully support World Oral Health Day and you can too. How? You can show your support by simply spreading the word. Share information and inspiration! If you’ll be doing this online you can use #WOHD15. Prosthodontists are dental specialists in oral health so this is a subject that truly deserves more attention and a cause worth supporting, today and every day of the year. Smile for Life!
