Prosthodontics goes back to when I was growing up. When my dad was in high school, he had his teeth knocked out playing football. I grew up in a very small town and I noticed that a lot of people were missing teeth. That was a way I saw that I could give back to the community and especially because it hit so close to home with my dad.
Prosthodontics is a specialty in dentistry that many people don’t know about. Complex dentistry is what we do. For example, if someone gets in a really bad accident and are missing teeth, we as prosthodontists, create the treatment plan, position the teeth where they’re supposed to go and put the smile back together.
I have a brand new practice and I love my practice! It has been designed for the latest in technology and ergonomics for patient comfort. Instead of those uncomfortable chairs that patients have to keep shifting in, we have chairs that are so comfortable, they actually move to your body, which is amazing.
The light has been color coordinated so it has a high color rendering index, so that when you’re going for a shade selection, we can get the most ideal shade for a patient’s tooth, which if you go to a general dentist, you’re not going to see that there. If you notice the windows, there’s so much light in every single operatory and it’s for that particular reason. We want the patient, when they come in from the outside, they come in here and they walk back out, we want to make sure that their color is just right. So every little thing has been looked into.
Our practice has an in-house removable laboratory. I am a certified technician as well, so I fabricate prostheses. We have an injection molded system that increases the strength of the denture, decreases the chances of getting bacteria adhering to the prosthesis. Also, if you drop it, it’s less likely to break or warp.
That’s the type of equipment we have here. We have a 3D Cone Beam machine which allows us to take 3D imagery and to actually see what’s in the bones, see what’s going on. We can also plan complete cases digitally. The patient walks in, we plan everything and when they come back, for example if they didn’t have any teeth, they can have fixed teeth in one day.
We love to help all types of patients. Even if you have a single tooth that has a small problem. I take every case personally. I want to try to satisfy every patient as best as I possibly can. The biggest and most important thing is getting people healthy. We’re here to help you.
